What does Oppo think of the early model 1.8t fwd TT as a daily driver?

A more expensive golf 1.8T to maintain. So, finnicky when it decides to not work and mediocre when it does work. 2/10, would DD if it was free.

Make sure it was maintained....those 1.8ts need oil changes all the time, if they have neglected it the oil passages get clogged up and it kills the motor.
and the timing chain can sometimes eat through the valve cover too.

I think they look quite good. There's some interesting shift mods. None of the reliability or mechanical aspects are compelling.

Some say that driving fwd Audi is like dating a girl who practices celibacy.

I have a 1.8t in my A4 and they can be a pain but once you correct the 120K mile issues (timing chain, seals, electrical gremlins, etc.) they're a blast to drive. They have a stigma but find me a 10+ year old car that isn't going to need a refresh.

I love the shape but I don't know much about the drive train. I'd rather have a 3.2 Quattro

Looks nice. Never owned one. Loud radio solves most problems.

VAG fanboy here. Love the style of these cars! I'd look for an AWD one, but the 1.8T can be made better with a few go-fast bits
